Difference Between Coaching and Psychotherapy or Counselling

Whereas often the objective of counselling and psychotherapy is to help people address and resolve problems that make them feel bad emotionally, or are impairing their ability to function well, coaching, presuming that clients are in a good place mentally and emotionally focuses on enabling individuals to develop their own capabilities and improve performance.

There are many forms of  coaching most of which are solution or ‘goal’ orientated.

Existential coaching, through its philosophical endeavour, brings forth an extra dimension to the work.

Clients who, as a result of psychotherapy,  have reached a level of self-awareness may wish to embark upon coaching in the pursuit of specific change.
