Counselling or Psychotherapy?
Whereas Counselling is often sought in times of crisis, psychotherapy tends to be deeper and loner process designed to enhance personal and self-development by considering the effect of our life experiences on current ways of behaviour and relating to others.
My Approach to Therapy
As an integrative psychotherapist, I am trained to use different approaches according to your unique needs. The philosophy of my practice is based upon an Existential and Psychodynamic , attachment based, understanding of what it is to be human. I am also trained in Couples Therapy and CBT and dream work.
Rather than attempting to pigeonhole or diagnose you, I aim to accompany you in a non-judgmental and respectful way through an exploration of your values, experiences and suffering in an effort to elucidate your philosophy of living.
Exploring how your thoughts, attitudes and experiences impact on your current way of being in the world, we will contemplate the possibly of truly engaging with the challenges that life brings. Releasing the blocks that have encumbered you, we will facilitate your freedom to discover the potential choices open to you in order to live a more fulfilling and meaningful life.
As a registered member of the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapists and a member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists I am bound by their code of ethical conduct.
This means that everything you say to me will be treated in total confidence and any personal details will be protected from third parties. Confidentiality will only ever be broken with your consent in the rare circumstances when there appears to be a risk to you or to others or if there is a risk to a child.
